E.G.C.U was started by Kigongo Apollo Fredrick who is one of the teaching staff in the school. Its need arose after seeing the way students he had taught were failing in class badly because of failure to accomplish school dues and lack of scholastic materials. Besides the above, some dropped out of school not because they wanted but mainly due to:

§         Loss of parents especially due to HIV/AIDS scourge.

§         Parents having no gainful employments

§         Neglected children

§         From distressed families

§         Parents having negative attitudes for the girl child education looking at them as a marriage material.

Because of failure to meet school dues, they end up into early marriage which have related problems like death, not because they like it but due to pressure from the ignorant parents or guardians.

Having identified the need, the Director took up the role of surrendering his salary to such people to study in order to succeed in life. Some teachers have also seen the importance of the system hence they have contributed partially to some children identified.

EGCU is a local non profit organisation that has individual partners and organisations supporting children realise their dreams.
